Rayna was introduced to old time music by her father, Dan, a renowned old-time fiddler and banjo-player. Before joining Uncle Earl, Rayna toured the world with dancer Ira Bernstein, with David Holt & Friends, and as a member of the Freight Hoppers.
In this Cabin set, her song choices range from the traditional English ballad to a traditional West African tune. Her "Friends" are similarly diverse, with Led Zep vet John Paul Jones accompanying her on bass and mandolin, and two members of Toubab Krewe adding African and electric elements.
This set is also available with all of the 2007 performances from the MerleFest Cabin Stage.
I`ve seen Uncle Earl perform before, where Rayna`s bold fiddling always drew my attention. It was fun to see her perform with other musicians. This was a gem of a set, especially the last song(s). JP
