The North Charleston Center for Performing Arts in North Charleston, South Carolina. I still can’t believe we found it.
Well, we did find it. What we found was a great show!
For starters, the Feel Like a Stranger -> Easy Answers opener was a treat on a warm southern evening. Crazy Fingers, Maggie’s Farm and a crowd-pleasing Liberty were bubbling with little gems floating through the air and a perfect first set to glide us through the first part of our journey and on to the night’s epic second set.
Blackbird, is such a simple, beautiful song. Bob Weir does a great version of this song and here is one stellar example. Memorable performance, I still remember it. I also remember it was followed by Mexicali Blues which is always a crowd pleaser, great energy in that room. The energy built as a deep groove lured us into an intense rich version of Corrina that just kept going, the groove that is… Jus’ like Mama Said, Mississippi Half Step, then throw in a little Terrapin Station…too much?
Not enough!… add in a must hear 14 minute Jam, Black Peter, Saint Stephen, The Eleven and a how about for an encore after all that an audience emotional release version of Ripple.
Don’t take my word for it! Order one and see for yourself. You don’t have to have been there, but next time I bet you will be.
