Reviews for Bruce Springsteen: 8/9/1978 The Agora, Cleveland, OH

Actually attended this show I had just returned from an overseas tour in the Marine Corps and a buddy of mine had managed to get a couple of tickets since the show was actually free and you had to send in a postcard. I have seen Bruce 7 times and this was the best show I’ve ever seen. Actually this was the best concert I have ever attended. My wife and I love Thunder Road and this rendition is our favorite. I had it played for my wife off of a bootleg CD at our daughters wedding. The opens to Prove it all Night and Because the Night are simply the best I’ve ever heard.

I was about 14 years old when I caught this show replayed on a Chicago Radio Station late at night. I was able to record most of it on 4 different generic cassettes. I am now 52 years old and I still have the original generic cassettes and the clock radio/cassette I listened to the tapes on hundreds of times. One of the 4 tapes has gone missing over the years and one of my many moves. This was always my go to music, honestly, this show, probably my life anthem. The version of "Growing up"will always make me smile, and the intro to Thunder Road will still reduce me to tears. My now 15 year old daughter just asked if she could wear my "Rising" concert shirt to school today. She was pillaging my closet. I of course let her and started telling her about how important Bruce was to me, which lead me to search for this show online. Years of searching and I had found it. For a man who never quite accomplished all he had hoped to, this was a Eureka moment. Silly as it sounds, I have been redeemed by the Boss.

So exciting! And, yes, worth the cost for the legendary Prove It All Night intro alone ????????????

Absolutely one of the best live recordings ever — of any artist. It was said before but I’ll repeat it: Prove it All Night worth the cost if the download alone. If you missed Bruce in the late 70s, this is a must if you want to know how rock and roll is done. Because the Night is also killer!

I have heard several bootleg versions of this show through the years and want to say thank you to Bruce and the E Street Band for releasing this. I always knew this was a solid show but it wasn't until this release until I recognized how special it was. Every once in a while a band will peak at the right time, play at the right venue, and have that perfect crowd for something magical to happen. Well, this is it. Magic!!!

Can't wait for some more magic to be released.

the first Springsteen bootleg I ever bought . . . and still my favorite. This should have been officially released YEARS ago, but better late than never. The version of "Prove It All Night" on this show is worth the cost of the download all by itself.
