The New Year's Run Part 3
Yup, I splurged and bought the whole damn New Year's Run. So I'm happy to say this first one is a very enjoyable show.
Although the first set looked the most interesting, it was actually the second set that I spent the most time on. The hour long jam through "House Dog Party Favor">"I-Man">"House Dog Party Favor" is indeed something to behold and "Catalyst" might be the best version I've ever heard. The jams and the mix throughout this show seem pretty well dominated by guitarist Jon Gutwillig, making me miss the interplay between him and keyboardist Aron Magner, and while I really couldn't call this prime Biscuits, they still are worth the trouble. Sound quality wise I sometimes went from thinking the mix was to shrill and bassless (first set) to thinking it was amazing (see again "Catalyst").
