Reviews for The Disco Biscuits: 12/7/2006 The Roxy, West Hollywood, CA

the first night of LA bisco was possessed by the devil, which is a great thing of course... listening to these shows after-the-fact, this night was pretty damn sick too... you can hear the transitioning of spirit, the egoless recovery from complete possession that led into the jubulence of the San Fran shows... interesting show for many reasons, probably won`t become `epic`, though there are some jams here that clearly show bisco as working alongside fate, musically, that is extremely compelling with multiple listenings... the `negative dialectical synthesis` (in Zizek`s sense), is most evident in this show as any I`ve encountered...

This show was off the charts. Perhaps nothing will match the Hammerstein run, but this is a great show. First set is infused with great jams based in African rhythms. Second set is a total dance-party throwdown. If you check out the clip of Piling it High, you wil see that the sound problems were more likely the p.a., not the band. Barber broke his G string during November Rain and played the melody on the remaining strings. Brownie broke his D string in Run Like Hell. Walking out of the show, my bro and me felt that the Spacebird segment deserves praise for years to come. Check it out for yourself.
