looks like a sick show, hav`nt downloaded it yet but i`m probably gonna get all the NYE shows. just confused by the note saying this is the first time they played covered "Paul Revere", i saw them when they started off thier set and Langerado with it and i know i`ve seen it on some set lists after, wierd.

Great Sounding Recording!!!

A lot of pounding excellence packed in this New Years show. The seamless jam starting with Helicopters and ending almost 50 minuets later with Basis for a Day was quite a feat of artistry. As for the sound quality….well, it’s definitely an improvement from their other recordings, but that isn’t saying much. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to maintain a steady sound level; this recording is fraught with sound effects—usually from Aron Magner or the electric drums--that are noticeably too loud. In comparison, when I listen to live Phish recordings, and Page releases otherworldly digital sounds from his electric instruments, the sound level doesn’t fluctuate. Therefore, it should be within the purview of DB to deliver such quality. Also, throughout this recording, there are moments of blatant feedback, especially when the music becomes quieter. I understand with live recordings there will always be some audible feedback, but this was more intense than usual. All caveats aside, I still would recommend buying this recording. I pine for the day when such recording anomalies are worked out, but for now, the music within these three disks is worth a few wincing moments.
