Reviews for MerleFest 20th Homecoming Jam: 4/28/2007 Watson, MerleFest, NC

Just got this CD in the Mail. It is absolutely great. These performance real shine as one would expect from this group of giants. A lot of great energy and the recording is superb. Not too wet nor too dry and not a simple board feed with fake reverb or a couple of mics out in front of the speaker stacks like a Grateful Dead bootleg. This was done with quality in mind. I have been recording concerts for my station for a quarter century now, and this is superb.

Perfect sound, editing, and performance. One can only hope that Telluride gets on the bus and starts allowing some downloads as well. We can only hope.

Grab this...you will not be disappointed!

You go to festivals for so many reasons - hearing the music, hanging out with friends who also love the music, getting to say, "I was there..." Well, I was there for this show, and I am really happy to have this recording. Earl Scruggs and Doc Watson together with this group of great pickers they inspired. Sam Bush was a perfect choice for emcee. When he called for "White Freightliner Blues" well we all knew it would be one special moment in a show with many special moments.
