Reviews for The Disco Biscuits: 8/16/2007 Camp Bisco 6, Mariaville, NY

This is a pretty middling set by the next few years standards. It really was kind of a laid back opener to the weekend. The great abyss is pretty boring, the HAB is ok. Not really worth a second listen.

i was very let down by this show. as others have said, the b & c was sub-par, boomshanker never does it for me, especially when youre only getting 4 songs, the abyss almost takes off, but never does, and that is the WORST hab ever. yeah, i know, it was a monster time wise, but its 32 minutes of pure crap. The last segment is one of my favorite biscuit moments and the barbers attempt to space this part out was terrible. please don`t waste your money on this...if you have to hear this, get the aud recording.

lame. B&C was sub-par. boom shanker was lame. great abyss was just like any other. the HAB jam was tight. not epic, but tight. if you buy this, it better be for the HAB, otherwise you`re wasting your $

This set is frustrating and muddy. “Bernstein & Chasnoff” never quite takes off, and the sung parts are inaudible; “The Great Abyss” is the least inventine version played yet; and “Boom-Shanker” remains as trudgy and dull as ever. Compare the “Hot Air Balloon” from this set with the version from CBIV to see just how sloppy the band has gotten in performing actual compositions. (This trend is upsetting, considering that even at last year’s Camp Bisco they were pretty tight.) What happened to that brief period of revitalization and enthusiasm the band seemed to experience when Allen came on board? I’m glad they’re taking a brief break before their next tour to tighten up – they desperately need it.

Underrated set, a lot of folks no doubt were BLOWN AWAY by Infected Mushroom, which took the stage immediately following the Biscuits. I really enjoyed this set, and it stands up on the second listen. Look for "Road to Nowhere" (Talking Heads) theme going on towards the end of Abyss... they play on the end of "Road" quite a bit, in my amateur opinion. Thanks for such a wonderful event, what "good" taste in music these guys have!

This set pounds some serious brain. The biscuits seems to be evolving... into a full blown parasite that shoves itself deep inside... I can even hear it when I sleep...
